My name is Rosie, married to an Italian and a mum to three boys who are 14, 9 and almost 3.
I am a mentored Doula with Doula UK. I completed my initial Doula training course with Developing Doulas in 2009 but due to personal circumstances and a move to Zimbabwe for 5 years, I have only recently decided the time is right to start the recognition process with Doula UK. I have been on a refresher course with Developing Doulas in February 2018.
I cover the East Kent Area but if you are outside of this area then please get in touch and I maybe able to help you or point you in the direction of another Doula who can.
I have always been passionate about women getting the support they need around the time of birth and early motherhood. Having continuous support during pregnancy, birth and early motherhood can make a big difference to many women.
Birth is a life changing moment as a baby is born so is a mother. If a mother is given information she is then empowered to make choices that are right for her and her baby.
Having help in those early days after the birth of a baby can make such a difference. It can allow you time to bond with your baby and for you to find your feet in your new role as a mother, be this the first time as a new mum or the fifth time as a new mum. We all need that time in the early days when someone is there to help us and to hold our hand as we navigate this new role.
I am also a breastfeeding peer supporter at the local children centre and a member of La Leche League. I really enjoy this voluntary role as I meet new mums and help them on their way to a successful breastfeeding journey.
